| 연구목적 | □ The purpose of this joint work is to share information, know-hows and experience in legal assistance and cooperation projects as a donor country, and to look at Law and Development with the eyes of the recipient country. In doing so, we can develop an acceptable and practical methodology and evaluation system for those legal aid projects. □ The Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE) of the Nagoya University, having been carrying out many projects and programs relating to legal assistance in its capacity as an academic institution, would like to focus this joint research with our counterpart institutions on the case of Cambodia. The Japanese government has been assisting the codification and implementation of the new Cambodian Civil Code and Civil Procedure Code and CALE has established a Research and Education Center for Japanese Law inside the Royal University of Law and Economics since 2008 to educate and train new generations of legal professionals in Japanese language, law and knowledge about the society. In recent years, some Korean institutions have also provided some technical assistance and cooperation schemes to the Cambodian government and academic institutions to develop Cambodia’s legislative and regulatory capacity and to strengthen human resources in legal service. For example, the Korean legal system has been consulted for the designing of a new securities market regulatory regime in Cambodia. By using Cambodia as a field of research, we believe that this joint research will be the first effort to look into the comparative experiences of the two Asian donor countries. |
