Recently, cultural competitiveness is regarded as one of the most important elements of national competitiveness, and traditional performing art is one of the best examples to examine each country's cultural competitiveness.
Since traditional performing art is a historical crystal of each country's life, thought, philosophy and regligion, the promotion of traditional performing art will guarantee most competitive national brand.
However, traditional performing art is not popular in Korea due to the western culture and education system and the failure of systematic promotion. Although it is understood that traditioanal performing art should be protected and promoted at the national level, the current law and policy are not enough for the promotion of traditional performing art.
Under the circumstances, enactment of related laws for the promotion of traditional performing art is needed for the establishment of promotion infrastructure.
In Chapter 2, we will look at the current policy on traditional performing art and in Chapter 3, the related current laws will be reviewed.
In Chapter 4, laws related to traditional performing art in Japan will be reviewd and in Chapter 5, the draft of the Promotion Law of Traditional Performing Art will be presented and explained.
