Characteristics
- The Korea Legislation Research Institute operates for the purpose of supporting the national legislative policies and promoting timely and accurate dissemination of legislative information as well as assisting general legislative activities by systematically collecting and managing legislative information and surveying or researching juristic and legislative issues with extensive expertise.
Primary Functions
- Survey and research on foreign and domestic laws and legislative policies
- Systematic integration, management, dissemination and computer networking of foreign and domestic legislative information
- Publication and supply of the Code of Laws of Korea, and if needed, explanatory materials concerning the purpose and background of individual laws
- Research of legal terminology and study on the Korean old legal codes before the introduction of the current legal system and the history of the Korean legal system
- Joint-research with foreign or domestic institutions on legal systems and legislative policies, and invitation of legal experts for research
- Entrustment of research projects to domestic research institutes or individuals as well as performance of research projects entrusted by the Government or private organizations
