KLRI held International Academic Conference by Inviting Experts from Republic of Korea, China and Japan
The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) held an international academic conference on unification legislation under the subject of Northeast Asian Economic Cooperation and Legislation of Special Economic Zone at Ruby Hall (22th Floor) of The Plaza Seoul at 10:00 am, December 7th (Fri).

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) held an international academic conference on unification legislation under the subject of Northeast Asian Economic Cooperation and Legislation of Special Economic Zone at Ruby Hall (22th Floor) of The Plaza Seoul at 10:00 am, December 7th (Fri).
This academic conference was prepared to identify the situation of laws on special economic zones in China and North Korea and amendments thereof, and discuss legal systems to prepare for the promotion of inter-Korean economic cooperation and implementation of laws on unified special economic zone in the future.
The academic conference has proceeded through two sessions, attended by experts for unified legislation in Republic of Korea, China and Japan as well as for North Korean laws including Rhee Ik Hyeon, President of the Korea Legislation Research Institute, and Sung Nak In, former President of Seoul National University.
In session I, Kim Kwang Gil, attorney of Jipyong LLC., made presentation under the subject of Transitions and Recent Trends of the Legal Systems on Special Economic Zone in North Korea, followed by the presentation of Kim Sung Wook, professor of Jeju University Law School, for Legislation Direction on Disposal of Lands in Special Economic Zones of North Korea.
Kim Chul, professor of China University of Political Science and Law, made presentation of Legal Systems on Special Economic Zone of China in Session II, and Park Hun Min, member of the Korea Legislation Research Institute also presented a report of Necessity for and Direction of Formulating Legal Systems on Unified Special Economic Zone in Korea.
Comprehensive debates were held on the basis of the contents discussed in Session I and II, attended by Dr. Mimura Mitsuhiro of ERINA, Japan, Ma Kwang, professor of Zhejiang University, China, Ryu Ji Sung, member of the Korea Legislation Research Institute, and Moon Sun Ju, judge of the Judicial Policy Research Institute.
Rhee Ik Hyeon, President of the Korea Legislation Research Institute, said “KLRI discovers legal needs that are necessary for inter-Korean exchange and cooperation to conduct the relevant research project” and continued, “we keep collaborating with lots of institutes and professionals in Korea and foreign countries to enhance research capabilities.”
Meanwhile, the Korea Legislation Research Institute conducts legislative research for inter-Korean exchange and cooperation, collection and analysis of North Korea legislative materials for preparing the unification of South and North Korea, and research on legal systems of transition economies.
