KLRI Held Trade Law Forum Jointly with the Ministry of Justice and Incheon Metropolitan City
The Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) held the 2018 Incheon Trade Law Forum, jointly with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Ministry of Justice, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) and Incheon Metropolitan City from September 10 (Monday) to 12 (Wednesday) at Songdo Convensia.
Since 2013, the KLRI has been hosting the Trade Law Forum in cooperation with UNCITRAL and the Ministry of Justice to discuss various issues regarding international commercial rules.
Attended by about 300 experts in the field of international commerce, including KLRI President Rhee Ik-hyeon, Minister of Justice Park Sang-ki, Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor Park Nam-chun, and Korean Commercial Arbitration Board International (KCAB International) Chairman Shin Hi-taek, the forum was focused on sharing the direction of policies on investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) in the Asia-Pacific region and on discussing recent trends in international commercial rules.

Among the moderators and speakers joining the forum were: Hyon Jun-won, Director of Office of Global Law Research at KLRI; Choi Ji-yeon, Head of Global Law Research Team at KLRI; Caroline Nicholas, Senior Legal Officer of UNCITRAL; and Kwon Hee-hwan, Director of KCAB International.
“Subjects discussed at this forum, such as ISDS, e-commerce in the digital economy and regulatory reforms for mutual growth with MSMEs, are also deeply related to economic developments in the Asia-Pacific region,” KLRI President Rhee Ik-hyeon said. “I hope that this meeting will contribute to finding win-win solutions.”
As demonstrated by this latest trade law forum, the KLRI has long devoted its research efforts to addressing global legislative issues through close cooperation with international organizations and legal experts around the world.
