The 43rd Legislative Policy Forum was held with the honorable guest speaker Gang-Lip Kim, Minister of Food and Drug Safety

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) (President Kye-Hong Kim) invited Minister of Food and Drug Safety (MFDA) Gang-lip Kim for his speech titled ‘COVID-19, the Roles and Tasks of MFDA’ at the 43rd Legislative Policy Forum held on March 29 (Mon) at Grand Ballroom2 (5fl.) of JW Marriott Hotel. 
 
The Forum was held with a limited number of participants under thorough preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Forum was broadcast live on the KLRI’s Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTklDPxaVVZ__zwKy4tno8g/featured).
 
KLRI President Kye-Hong Kim said in his opening speech, “With the start of vaccination, the hope in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic is growing even bigger.” He continued to say, “I hope the Forum today contributes to developing the legal frameworks for countering pandemic so that we can put an end to this crisis and return to normal life.”
 
Minister Gang-Lip Kim looked back on the responses and achievements of the last year after the outbreak and presented the MFDA's current tasks including the introduction of vaccines and treatments to restore the people's daily lives promptly. In particular, he shared the counter measures against the COVID-19 pandemic which had minimized the impact on the Korean economy by balancing the business as usual and the preventive and hygienic measures. And he also spoke as to the counter measures implemented by the MFDA to prepare for a long battle against coronavirus ahead. 
 
KLRI holds the Legislative Policy Forum quarterly with invited experts from various fields to share legislative achievements and discover new legislative tasks. The previous invited speakers of the Legislative Policy Forum include former Chairperson of National Assembly Sye-Kyun Chung, former Minister of Government Legislation Hyung-Yeon Kim, and former Chairman of Fair Trade Commission Sang-Jo Kim.
