KLRI’s Expert Meeting for Legislation and Policy on Autonomous Vehicles with German invited guests

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Kye-Hong Kim) held ‘Expert Meeting for Legislation and Policy on Autonomous Vehicles’ with German legal and policy experts including Patrick Schweiss, Project Manager of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Korea Office on Oct. 20 (Wed., at 2pm) at KLRI’s Conference room 1. 
 
KAS Korea Office invited the German experts from the German government and private research and development institutes to Korea to look into the status of law, policy and technology of autonomous vehicles of Korea and to share the status and cases of Germany with the Korean counterparts. 
 
The German visitors to KLRI were Ilja Radusch, Director of the Business Unit Smart Mobility at Fraunhofer Institute, Torsten Fleischer, Deputy Head of the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Benjamin Wilsch, a scientific consultant in the field of mobility, energy and future technologies at VDI / VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, Alexander Klinge, Research Associate at the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility (IKEM), and Marcus Nolte, Research Assistant and PhD Candidate at the Institute of Control Engineering at TU Braunschweig. KLRI researchers Yong-Hyuk Cho (Director of Regulatory Legislation Research Center) and Yoo-Kyoung Choi (Social Value Legislation Team manager) attended the meeting with the German experts. 
 
The meeting was held with presentations on legislative policies as to Korea’s autonomous vehicles and followed by QnA and Discussion Sessions. Participants shared and exchanged their legislative views and the status on autonomous vehicles of the two countries.
