The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) held a joint academic conference together with the Korean-Chinese Society of Law, the Korea Corporate Legal Affairs Association, and the Lawmaker Office of Jung Jum Sik under the theme of “Innovation of the Chinese Corporate Legal System and Korea’s Countermeasures” in the Seminar Room of the National Assembly Member's Office Building on July 10th (Wednesday).

The conference, attended by more than 70 sectional law experts from China, was prepared to hold expert discussions on the relevant legislation and policy changes in China after the outbreak of the US-China trade war.

The conference featured presentations and debates on four subjects including: Prospect on the Revision of Chinese Intellectual Property Law and Its Implications; Implications related to the Security Exceptions of US-China Trade War; Significance and Implications of China's Foreign Investment Law; and Introduction and Implications of the Listing of China's Capital Markets and Investment-related Innovation System. Kim Hyung Gun, Director of the Office of International Cooperation of KLRI, Kim Myung A and Lee Ki Pyeong, members of KLRI, Han Moon Gil, attorney of Kim & Chang, and Kim Jong Woo, professor of the Kangnam University participated in the presentations and debates.

President Rhee of the KLRI explained the background of the academic conference, saying “Because of the US-China trade war, the Chinese government carries out legal system reform to improve the environment for foreign investors including strengthening intellectual property rights and expanding freedom for foreign investment. We should closely examine China’s legal changes that can have implications for Korean corporate strategy on trade and investment in China.”
