KLRI held ASIA-PACIFIC International Conference

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik-hyeon) held the 7th Asia-Pacific International Conference under the subject of 'Recent Trend of Legislation and Polices for Climate Change in Asia-Pacific Region' in The Plaza Seoul, Diamond Hall on last 16th (Fri).
 
The Asian-Pacific International Conference was prepared to share the policy trend of each country and discuss its implications by inviting experts for climate change from Asian-Pacific region including the Republic of Korea, the United States, China, Australia and Thailand. The Conference was first held in 2012.
 
The conference was divided into two sessions of presentations. In session I, experts for climate change from Australia, China, Indonesia and New Zealand have participated in the conference to present the recent trend of legislation and policies on climate change by country. In session II, experts from Thailand, the U.S., and the Republic of Korea gave presentations.
 
After presentation sessions were completed, a wrap-up session was held in which both presenters and debaters participated on the base of the presented agenda.
 
Main presenters included Kim Eun-jung, Senior Research Fellow, Korea Legislation Research Institute, Lee Godden, professor of University of Melbourne, Australia, Ethan Elkind, professor of UC Berkeley School of Law, U.S., and Linda Yanti Sulistiawati, professor of University Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and Oh Hyungna, professor of Kyung Hee University, Lee Sihyung, senior researcher, Business Institute of Sustainable Development of Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kim Junghwan, assistant director, Climate Change Mitigation Division of Ministry of Environment attended the wrap-up session as debaters.
 
The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik-hyeon) said "the Asia-Pacific International Conference, which becomes 7th one this year, is recognized to increase each country's understanding about response on climate change and significantly contribute to study exchange", and continued, "I hope participants to suggest and discuss various opinions regarding confrontational policies on climate change in this conference".
 
Meanwhile, the Climate Change Law Research Team of Korea Legislation Research Institute contributes to legislating policies regarding climate change and sustainable development in Republic of Korea, including participating in process of formulating the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth and Act on Emission Trading.
