Discussing Improvement Measures for Engagement Development of Legal System on Small and Medium Venture Businesses

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) jointly held an academic conference with the Korea Business Law Association under the subject of 'Innovation and Engagement Development and Improvement Measures of Legal System on Small and Medium Venture Businesses' at the main conference room of the Korea Federation of SMEs on October 26th (Fri).
 
This academic conference has been prepared to present the findings of study related to venture and innovation start-ups which the KLRI has performed, and seek the direction for establishing policies on small and medium venture businesses. The research related to venture and innovation start-ups includes measures on expansion of funding such as dual-class right system, improvement measures on industrial accident compensation insurance for micro enterprises and the self-employed, and enhancement measures on small and medium venture businesses covering strengthening effectiveness of statutes on collaborative cooperation.
 
Legal experts related to small and medium venture businesses, public officials from the relevant ministries, and about 100 specialists attended the academic conference, which has been held in two sessions: 'innovative development' and 'engagement development.' In the first session, Han Joung Mi, director of Office of Financial and Economic Legislation Research of the KLRI, has prepared agenda under the subject of 'Expansion Measures on Financing for Small and Medium Venture Businesses by means of Dual-Class Right', followed by presentation by Jung Eung Ki, professor of Chungnam National University under the subject of 'Legal System on Protection of Small and Medium Enterprise Industries and Investors - National Arbitration.'
 
In the second session, Cha Sang Jin, counsel of the National Tax Service, has prepared agenda under the subject of 'System for Promotion of Small and Medium Venture Businesses and its Improvement Direction', and Lee Ki Pyeong, member of the KLRI provided presentation under 'Improvement Direction of Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance for Micro Enterprises and the Self-Employed.' Kim Ju Hwa, director of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ou Il Chun, assistant junior official of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Kim Su Dong, senior researcher of the Agency for Traditional Market Administration attended the conference as debaters.
 
President Rhee Ik Hyeon said "it is required to perform research on mitigation of regulations and expansion of support for promotion and development of small and medium venture businesses taking key roles in achieving the target of innovation and engagement development of the Korea Government," providing the background of the event.
 
Meanwhile, the KLRI conducts research to propose legislative measures to facilitate laws and regulations for collaborative cooperation, innovative business start-ups, and expansion based on micro enterprises' occupation, corresponding to the government policies concerning small and medium venture businesses and micro enterprises.
