The Korea Legislation Research Institute and the National Assembly Library held a Joint Seminar

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) and the National Assembly Library held a joint seminar in commemoration of the seventieth anniversary of the establishment of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea at Meeting Room 1 of the National Assembly Member’s Office Building on Friday, July 20. 

The seminar held under the theme “Legal Issues in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)” provided a forum for scholars and experts concerned to discuss legal issues related to artificial intelligence (AI) technology and explore diverse ways to cope with relevant legal problems.

In the seminar, presentations and discussions were made in the three sections of “AI and responsibility for illegal acts,” “legal issues with AI-based administration,” and “overseas trends in AI-related legislation and their implications.”

Dr. Jang Min-seon, Research Fellow at the KLRI,  Dr. Kim Do-seung, Professor at Mokpo National University, and Kim Seong-ho, Legal Specialist at the National Assembly Library gave presentations and discussed with other participants. 

The KLRI President Rhee Ik-hyeon said, “This seminar will offer an opportunity to pose meaningful questions and ponder about how AI will change our life in the near future and from which perspective the law should see new technologies.”

The KLRI is currently conducting ‘research on legal issues in the age of AI’ to prepare legal framework to deal with legal and ethical issues that may arise with the commercialization with AI.
