KLRI Held International Conference by Inviting Legislative Experts from Major Countries

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) held the 2019 KLRI International Conference of Legislative Evaluation under the theme of “Goals and Methods of Ex-Ante Evaluation of Legislation” at the Maple Hall of the Plaza from 12:30 pm on June 19th (Wednesday). 
  
This conference was prepared to seek substantial evaluation methods of legislation and effective alternatives by inviting researchers engaged in legislation and legislative evaluation from various European countries. 
 
In the conference, attended by around 100 experts specialized in legislative evaluation in the world including President Rhee of the KLRI, Kim Hyeong Yeon, Minister of Government Legislation, and Kim Ha Joong, administrator of the National Assembly Research Service, there were heated discussions on the ex-ante evaluation of legislation in Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and the Republic of Korea. 
 
Christine Maugüé, chairperson judge in France, gave his keynote presentation on “Goals and Methods of Ex-Ante Evaluation of Legislation in France” before the beginning of the main Session. 
 
Cha Hyun Sook, director at the KLRI, Yang Tae Gun, Bae Gun Yee and Jeon Ju Yeol, members of the KLRI, Armin Steinbach, director at the Economic and Energy Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany, doctor Katharina Eisele at the Legislative Research Service in the European Parliament, Felix Uhlmann, professor at the University of Zurich, and Mauro Zamboni, professor at the Stockholm University participated in presentations and debates. 
 
President Rhee of the KLRI gave his opening address, saying “This conference will be an opportunity to seek the diversification and realization of legislative evaluation methods in the Republic of Korea by internationally sharing the theoretical and practical concerns in legislative evaluation techniques.”
 
The Korea Legislative Research Institute leads the legislative evaluation research as a means for good legislation. KLRI has held academic conferences to discuss the development and practical application of legislative evaluation theory by inviting experts from all over the world.
