KLRI-Korean Society of Legislation Studies Held Joint Academic Conference

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President: Rhee Ik Hyeon) held a joint academic conference under the theme of “Strengthening Deliberation and Evaluation in the Legislative Process” at the Multimedia Room, Gabriel Hall of Sogang University on May 24th (Friday) together with the Korean Society of Legislation Studies.
 
The conference began with opening speeches by Rhee Ik Hyeon, President of the KLRI and Yim Ji Bong, President of the Korean Society of Legislation Studies, followed by two sessions including topics on Deliberative Democracy and Legislative Evaluation System; and Individual System for Deliberation of Legislation.
 
Hong Wan Sik, Professor of Konkuk University Law School, gave presentation on Strengthening Deliberative Democracy in the Legislative Process, and Yang Tae Gun, Research Fellow of the KLRI, on Significance of Legislative Process and Legislative Evaluation System. In addition, Kim Gi Tae, President of the Korea Legislation Association, Lee Bal Rae, head of Legislation Team of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and Han Sang Hee, Professor of Konkuk University Law School participated in presentations. Presentations and debates were carried out by the 5th topic, and then there was a comprehensive discussion in which Eum Sun Pil, Professor of Hongik University and Kang Hyun Cheol, member of the KLRI participated.
 
KLRI President Lee said, “While we reflect the meaning of various means that can contribute to better legislation in the framework of deliberation, I hope this discussion will become the foundation for the development of legislation in the Republic of Korea.”
